COVID-19 Care Study of American Indian and Alaska Native Communities
SAE was involved in a COVID-19 care study focused on increasing access to care for medically underserved areas (MUAs) and populations (MUPs), specifically American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities. In the study, SAE used a digital health platform along with Bluetooth-syncing devices to keep track of participants' important health information. Data stayed safe and private by controlling access via stringent security measures recommended by the National Institute of Standards and Technology Cyber Security Framework.

One important safety feature was encrypting all data sent between devices and the platform. We also stored all of the data in a strict HIPAA-compliant cloud-based system.

By connecting the digital health platform to the devices collecting data from participants, we could monitor health in real time. This helped us respond quickly to any changes in the participant's vital information. Plus, because we made privacy and security a top priority, participants could feel confident that their personal health information was being kept safe and confidential.
